Because of the high stability of iridium chemical properties, it can be used as lead wire that will not be oxidized and applied in the electronics industry. Iridium can also be used as a catalyst for some chemical reactions.
Because of the flexible application of iridium wire, it can also be used as a chemical reagent to produce various iridium alloys and iridium compounds. Iridium can also be used as an inert anode, as platinum, used to produce chlorine gas by electrolysis. In addition, iridium has stronger corrosion resistance, more suitable for inert anode materials.
Pure iridium wire can also be used as thermocouple material in special cases.
